Corporate philanthropy was the province of financial icons Carnegie, Rockefeller and Vanderbilt for decades before Hewlett-Packed entered the picture in the 1960s. What we’re doing in education reform gets a lot of pushback and criticism from the established old interests, whether that be teachers unions or others.
